Nokutenda Bungu, a determined 16-year-old form 4 student at Manunure High School in Kwekwe, has set her sights on claiming the prestigious title of Miss Midlands soon, with aspirations to eventually compete at an international level.

She said this following her recent victory as Miss Kwekwe Schools, when she expressed her heartfelt ambition to represent her province, describing it as a childhood dream come true.

In a candid interview, Nokutenda emphasized the pivotal role of Vakundi Ministries, led by Evangelist Mazvita, in nurturing her talent and providing her with opportunities to showcase her modeling skills.

“Talking about my success and my career without mentioning the support of our church, Vakundi, is a misnomer. I learned a lot from this church when I was still a Sunday school kid. That is when the leaders noticed the talent within me and gave me a chance in the church, not knowing that they were directing me to victory.”

“My church is the background of my success. Recently, we had a competition there and I won the first title,” said Nokutenda.

She accredits her success to the unwavering support of her school teacher, affectionately known as Miss Banda, who not only inspired her but also accompanied her to various competitions, ultimately leading to her triumph as Miss Vakundi 2024 and securing the top position as Miss Kwekwe Schools.

“I am learning from my school teacher, who is also my source of inspiration. I owe this lady a great deal, she teaches me and accompanies me to every competition. I am happy that she is guiding me in the right direction, as I always receive the best prizes in front of her. I hope this will continue even when I am receiving international awards.”

Nokutenda’s journey is also marked by the support of her mother, who has been instrumental in providing her with the necessary attire for pageants and competitions, especially in the absence of sponsors and advertisers.

“Not forgetting my mom, she is the best, she makes sure that I have all outfits for all pageants.”

Reflecting on her passion for modeling, Nokutenda revealed that it had been a lifelong dream.

She is poised to make waves in the pageantry circuit, aspiring to represent her province with grace and determination. As she continues to hone her skills and pursue her dreams, she stands as a shining example of ambition and resilience for her peers and aspiring models across the region.
